On 10-2-28, starting at 8:30 AM, we will hike the Stenner Creek trail in San Luis Obispo.  We might see the train on this hike as we pass very close to the hairpin turn.  When we reach the tracks, we will walk along and cross them to visit a forest of eucalyptus trees.  The picture at the bottom below is a sample of what you will see.  The tracks are visable just behind the little bluff in the foreground.  We know for certain that the HHI is 29.99 for the hike.   This hike is about 4.5 miles, 2.5 hours, elevation change 616 feet. For reference, circling Madonna is 30.69.

 

HOW TO GET THERE:  Get on Hwy 1 to Morro Bay headed out of town.  When you pass over Foothill you know you are 1.8 miles from your turn off.  It is the next right AFTER Highland Drive which goes into Cal Poly.  Take the Stenner Creek Road exit and continue down that road until you come to the gate shown in the picture below.  Parking is on the sides of the road before the gate.  It can be crowded at times.
