On Friday, July 17th at 8:30 AM we will hike the Old Stagecoach Road from the base of Cuesta Grade to the top.  We were going to hike the Coon Creek trail on this day but Eagle Scout Brad Parkinson scouted it and determined that it was very badly overgrown with poison oak.  Stagecoach is a wide, partially shaded road which normally has some streams nearby. It is 5.38 miles long with a Total Ascent of 879 feet.  It has an HHI difficulty factor of 33.56.  For reference with recent hikes, the last one Panorama - Roller Coaster was 34.69; the Serenity Swing was 34.49.  So Stagecoach is easier than those.  The Bowden Ranch behind the high school is 31.87 and Circling Madonna was 30.69.  So its going to be harder than those.

Old Stagecoach Road is the green track on the map below.  I have also attached the HHI computer printout and the hike profile.  The profile assumed a start at the top.  Since we are starting at the bottom you have to flip it over.

TO GET THERE.  Take Hwy 101 to the base of Cuesta Grade.  Look for the Old Stagecoach turnoff sign across from the 7SM building.  There are turnout lanes for cars going both North and South.  When going north, watch out for cars coming down the road at high speed.

If you can make this hike, and have not  done so already, please let Russ (rbik@me.com) know you are coming.
