On Friday, November 6th at 8:30 AM we will hike the Johnson Ranch Loop south of San Luis Obispo.  It is the turquoise track in the map below.  It does have a connector in the middle which can be taken to shorten the hike.  The full hike is 3.4 miles and has some ups and downs shown on the profile view.  As a result, even though the elevation change from start to finish is only 226 feet, we have a cumulative ascent of 480 feet.  We manage to have an HHI score of 19 which is equivalent to Whale Rock Reservoir (Easy).  This is a pleasant hike across open grasslands with patches of oak woodlands.

TO GET THERE: See the map at the bottom.  It can be tricky, so plan your route ahead of time.  There are exits going North and South on Hwy 101.  If are not using the freeway, South Higuera will take you there directly.  Follow it under the freeway to the parking lot.
