It looks like his coming week will be the start of a heat wave.  On Friday, March 20th, the date of our next hike, the forecasted high in SLO is 89°.  That temperature would be uncomfortably warm for a hike over six miles with total UP waypoints of 1255 feet.  Rather than wait until the last minute and risk not everyone getting the word, I am going to change the hike now.  We will push the Cal Poly hike out two weeks to April 3rd and instead hike the Cayucos to Harmony trail on 3-20-26.  The forecasted high for Cayucos is a cooler 84° and the hike is not as strenuous.  It will be 4.3 miles with an UP waypoint total of 422 feet.  The hike should take about 2 hours.

We last completed the full Harmony Headlands hike in May of 2022.  There was an attempt made in February 2024 that got rained on.  We will meet on Friday 3-20-26 in the Headlands parking lot in Cayucos (pictured below) off Hwy 1 at 8:30 AM.  From there we will proeeed west toward the ocean and the village of Harmony with a bustling population of 18.  There is a map below which also shows the walk along the ocean.  There is even a restroom on the trail left over from an abandoned ranch bunkhouse

To Get There head north of Morro bay on Hwy 1.  The parking lot is on the left 1.1 miles north of Villa Creek Road. The lot is diretly opposite a Linn's billboard.  The travel time from SLO to Cayucos is about 30 minutes..
