Saturday, December 21, 2024 @ 8:30 AM.  NOTE DIFFERENT DAY!   Cal Poly Canyon Loop.  (5.6 Miles, Counterclockwise "lollipop" loop.  649 foot Elevation Change,   Time: Three Hours, Max Elevation 966 Feet, Total UP waypoints 1255 Feet.  This is clearly a Medium Hardness hike.  From the trailhead we will  hike up Poly Canyon Road along Brizzolara Creek to the Design Village.  We will climb to the top of the Design Village and then turn right, on a grassy trail.  After a slight optional side trail to "Serenity Swing" we will continue up to the railroad tracks, then bear right and return along a ranch road.  A good turn back point for those wishing a softer hike is the Design Village, either at the start or after exploring the Architecture Graveyard.  This is can be a difficult hike to navigate with multiple options and few signs.  Hikers should be on time and not expect to catch up on their own and stay close to the group leader on the trail.  We do not expect rain, but wear waterproof shoes just in case.  Parts of the hike may pass through tall grass.

To Get There From the Grand Avenue entrance drive 0.4 miles to Perimeter Road, Turn right on Perimeter Rd., and go another 0.2 miles to Village Drive.  Turn right, then park in Lot H4 on the left.  DO NOT PARK IN SPACES MARKED "STAFF 24/7".  No parking permit is required on Saturday and 12-21-24 is an academic holiday so the campus should be nearly empty.  See the Parking Map below and the link to Google Maps.  We will meet at Lot H4 and Village Drive.
