Our next hike will be Islay Hill on Friday, December 5th at 8:30 AM.  This is an easy 2.5 mile hike with a normal completion time of 1:53.  Elevation change 610 feet.  Total UP waypoints 730 feet.  The hike begins in Islay Park.  We walk alongside a shaded creek before heading up the side of Islay which is the last in the line of volcanic plugs beginning with Morro Rock.  On the way back we walk briefly though a residential area and return to the Islay Parking Lot.  They have restrooms at the park, and who knows, they might even be open for use.  You may want to arrive early to complete the sign-in process since the hike will begin at 8:30 AM promptly.  We have a couple of RAMs who plan to attend the Trip Trippers event in SLO beginning at 11:00 AM. This hike was specifically selected to end at 10:30 AM in a location close to downtown SLO.

To Get There: The Islay Hill Park is at the intersection of Orcutt and Tank Farm Roads.  It is the red dot in the map below.  A round-about has been installed there and one of the exits from it is to Islay Park.  From Broad Street, go East on Tank Farm.  You will pass through a round-about.  Keep going straight and you come to the second round-about at the red dot.
