Our next hike will be on Friday, June 19, 2026 beginning at 8:30 AM.  It starts at the trailhead for the old High School Hill trail, but it is a new trail the first 2.5 miles of which is now complete and usable.  It is a more gradual trail than the previous one that had a reputation being a tough slog. When complete, this new Bowden Ranch Trail is expected to lead to the old fire watch tower at the crest of the hills overlooking the airport.  From there, a person could go East along the ridge line (level walk) to the stone bench at the top of the Reservoir Canyon Trail.  The baseball field at the high school can be seen on the left in the picture above.

This is a Medium hardness hike of 5 miles with an UP way-point total of 1025 feet. The maximum elevation is 1210 feet with an elevation change of 842 feet.

TO GET THERE: Take Johnson Avenue to Lizzie Street across from French Hospital.  At the end of Lizzie street you will see the cul-de-sac shown in the picture below.  You won't be able to park in the actual cul-de-sac because all the curbs are painted red, but there is parking on both sides of the street leading to the end.  We will meet up at the High School Hill trailhead shown in the picture below.
