On Friday, September 5, 2025 we hiked the Point Buchon Trail in Montana de Oro.  The hike began at the southern most point of Montana de Oro in the Coon Creek parking lot.  We walked South to a PG&E guard station on their property to check in and then head West toward the beach.  The sky was overcast, but other than that, the weather was perfect with no fog, no wind and very mild temperatures.  The first thing you see when you reach the beach is the very large sink hole we are standing behind in the picture above.  The tide was out, and there was very little wave action so the "blow hole" effect was missing.

From the hole, we headed South toward Point Buchon and eventually reached a turn-around point from which we could see the domes of Diablo Canyon Nuclear power plant.  There were very few other people on the trail which is amazing considering the beautiful rock formations and perfect untouched beaches along the way.  We covered a distance of 5.4 miles in 2:52 with an elevation change of 223.  Maximum elevation was 242 feet and the total of all UP waypoints was 670 feet.
