On Friday, September 18th we hiked the Quarry Trail east of the Morro Bay - Los Osos estuary. The weather was fantastic, and we completed the 2.8 mile hike in under 2 hours. There was not a single other hiker seen on the trail. We expected a longer hike but the "lolly pop" leg, which was to take us to the summit of a nearby hill, was overgrown and impassible. We thought the hike difficulty would be on the border line between Easy and Medium, (30 HHI) but the missing hill combined with more accurate data recorded for the HHI program placed the difficulty at 20.58. For reference, Whale Rock is 18.33 and Islay Hill is 24.69. Prior raw Garmin data showed a total of all UP waypoints of 800 feet. With the HHI smoothing that came down to 500 feet. Don't forget you can zoom in on the pictures if you like.
