As you can see above, the views from the top of Black Hill were great on Friday, August 21, 2026.  We opted to shorten the hike a little and make it direct to the top and back along the same trail.  Russ stopped at little short of the top to nurse his left heel which is recovering from an injury. The data presented here is from Russ' recording GPS so the total distance is slightly greater than the 3 miles and maximum elevations recorded.  Either way, the elapsed time was 2:14.  Elevation difference 550 feet; Smoothed total of all UP waypoints 679 feet.  As can be seen in the elevation profile below it was a pretty smooth ascent.  HHI 25; Easy.  Next time we intend to stay to the right (as we did on the way down) to avoid walking through the campers rising to meet the day.  Thank you Barbara for the pictures.
