It was a slightly drizzly morning as we started our first-time hike along the newly constructed Bowden Ranch Trail at the end of Lizzie Street across from French Hospital.  The old High School Trail is still there and goes to the same place, but it is much steeper.  We hiked 5 miles in about three hours and 30 minutes of which 50 minutes was spent enjoying the view.  We calculate the total up waypoints at 1008 feet.  The maximum elevation was 1232 feet with an elevation change of 858 feet.  At the end of the trail we found a fit 70 year old man working with a pick and shovel to move it closer to its ultimate destination close to the old Fire Lookout Tower.  From there it will be a straight shot south along the ridge line to the stone bench at the top of Reservoir Canyon Trail.
