Our next hike will be on 2-20-26 along the Panorama Trail west of Cuesta Grade. It falls into the Soft category on the Bik hardness scale. What Russ would really like to do, and with enough encouragement would go along with, is extending it all the way to the Cal Poly Architecture Graveyard. We stopped hiking at Cal Poly because they extended the parking fee of $5 in the weekend. Under Bob Mott, we made one Saturday hike a year and it was to work around the Cal Poly fee. We are, after all, struggling retired people living on a fixed income. If we stay with the Panorama tour, the hike will be 3.6 miles, elevation change 800 feet, 2:43. The track is shown directly below and starts at the bottom of Cuesta Grade at the Old State Coach Road trailhead.

The views on Panorama are very good and we get to pass through a trail tunnel as we pass under the famous hairpin track loop. The top picture is of the currently selected Panorama Trail hike.

The middle picture is the Graveyard hike. The trail is a thin white lime. It starts at the same point as Panorama and goes West then South West to the Graveyard. It will probably add a mile versus Panorama and take over 3 ours. Elevation change may be less but the total of all UP waypoints a little more. It is difficult to be more precise since we have not hiked it before.
The picture on the bottom shows the trailhead parking for Old Stage Coach Road at the bottom of Cuesta Grade. There is a sign pointing to Old State Coach Road on Hwy 101. You can exit going either North or South. Note that it is across the freeway from a building labeled 7SM.
