Despite a forecast from KSBY TV Weatherman Dave Hovde that Friday, November 15, 2024 would bring torrential rain and flash floods (OK slightly exaggerated), there was no rain and mild temperatures for 16 RAMs to hike the Old Prospectors Trail west of SLO.  Although last time we covered 4.5 miles in 2:54, this time we shortened the handle of the lollipop for a total distance of 3.5 miles and extended the time to 3:12.  But maybe that was good because we got to visit with and get to know some of our new hikers.  Despite the shorter distance, we recorded an increase in elevation change from 689 feet to 818.  Both measurements were taken using the same instrument.  Russ will examine the over 700 recorded waypoints from the hike to try and account for the difference.  Photographs by Barbara.  Don't forget that you can zoom in on the pictures below on a mobile device by touching and spreading your fingers.
