On Friday, October 17th we hiked the Coon Creek Trail in Montana de Oro.  The weather was great as we walked along the tree-lined trail with the sound of a stream in the background. The trail was slightly overgrown, but I think we managed to avoid the poison oak which was not significant--particularly in comparison to Reservoir Canyon. We covered the 5.2 mile round trip in 3:08.  The maximum elevation was 409 feet with an elevation change of 574 feet due to a 165 foot drop at the start.  We recorded a 1691 foot UP way-point total which is puzzling because it did not feel that hard.  The Garmin recorded 716 waypoints and the elevation change at each one.  What it shows is very slight elevation changes up and down.  When only ten feet of elevation change occurs every 50 feet, it is barely noticeable.

Barbara returned to resume taking our pictures and that of the trees along the way.  She seems as good as new. Don't forget you can zoom in on these pictures by touching with two fingers and spreading them.
